About the competition
WELCOME TO AAJ KA DHAMAKA! The AKD executive board is thrilled to invite you to the 30th annual AKD to compete in this year’s Bollywood Fusion x Bhangra competition. Our once small, local event has successfully grown to be one of the Southeast’s premier dance competitions. With AKD selling out shows for over two decades, we are excited to see what this year’s dedicated teams will bring to the stage. As a current partner competition for Legends, we are more ready than ever to bring the dhamaka to you! This season, AKD will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2027 in Durham, NC.

- AV guidelines
- Audition videos must be between 1.5-3 minutes of continuous dancing. Videos longer or shorter than this range will not be judged. Video must be filmed in one take. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will disqualify the team from being considered in the audition video process. Videos must be in good quality (1080p or above) and must be in either .mp4 or .mov file format. Submit a downloadable audition video as a GOOGLE DRIVE LINK with PERMISSIONS SET TO ALL. All dancers in the audition video must not wear any article of clothing that shows affiliation to their college/university, dance team, or previously attended competitions. In addition, the location must not show any affiliation to the college/university as well. All dancers in the audition video must wear all black attire. The video cannot include any props (excluding saap, khunde, or kato), voiceovers, stage outfits, special lighting, visual effects, theme incorporation, multiple camera angles, zooming, panning, professional recording, or editing. The camera must be fixed at a front and center view and must be continuous footage (i.e. cannot clip videos from different recordings together); no intro/outro videos are allowed. Videos from previous performances, competitions, audition videos and/or rehearsals cannot be used and will not be considered. Tapes of prior performances and audition videos filmed prior to August 15, 2026 will be unacceptable and will NOT be considered for audition purposes. At least 70% of dancers on the roster must be presented in the video. ALL dancers in the audition video must be fully visible in the frame, and formations must be visible. If team members performing in the actual competition differ from those shown in the audition video, the AKD board must be notified at least two weeks prior to the competition date. The new roster must be sent to the registration chairs. The competing team may be subject to disqualification if these guidelines are not met.
